How to Attach Dreadlock Extensions and Reattach Dreads with a Crochet Hook Permanently
Dreadlock Extensions and Reattachments can be done in a variety of different ways. But if you want a completely seamless and permanent solution, the Instant Locs Method is the one for you. Many salons only latch hook dreadlock and extension attachments, and the ones that claim to use the Instant Locs Crochet Method often only do a tiny fraction of what’s necessary to hold the extension permanently or create a seamless connection. With this course you’ll learn how to put in dread extensions that are more secure and seamless than the majority of salons can do!
Loc Extensions vs. Dreadlock Reattachment
DISCLAIMER: The method and process we use to Reattach Dreads and Attach Loc Extensions is EXACTLY THE SAME! The only slight difference is that when reattaching dreadlocks you’ll want the hair to be prepped and clean. We outline all of these points within the course. View the course curriculum and watch the free lessons to gain knowledge on how to reattach locs and do loc extensions.
Who will benefit from taking our course on How to Attach Dread Extensions and How to Reattach Locs.
Cosmetology school doesn’t really teach anything about dreadlocks. Well, we’re here to fill in the gaps. This course will greatly benefit salons by training stylists how to put in dread extensions that are permanent, seamless and completely natural looking. We have plenty of situations where we’ve attached extensions or reattached dreadlocks that are so perfect and seamless that we literally can’t find the connection. We’ve also created and attached extensions for clients who tell others that they’ve had their dreadlocks for 10 years and even if they’ve only had dreadlocks for one day they can get away with it because the attachment is so seamless and perfect that no one can tell. Our clients love our work and often have us fix work from other salons. All of the training in this course teaches you how to produce the same results our clients love and with any hair texture.
Individuals looking to make and/or attach their own dreadlock extensions will benefit from this course as well. For anyone looking to attach temporary extensions we give you that content for free. Just navigate to our curriculum (just below the video and enroll button at the top of this page) and you’ll be able to access our introductory content for free which includes our video on attaching extensions temporarily. And for anyone else looking to attach their own permanent extensions along with the skills to manage their own root maintenance or other dreadlock situations, these courses are perfect for you. We give you the skills to be confident to take matters into your own hands by practicing with fake hair first then learning how to attach dreadlock extensions and reattach dreads with a crochet hook.
The Instant Locs Crochet Method for Attaching and Reattaching Dreadlocks
The Instant Locs Method and the Dreadlock Crochet Method are the same thing. Therefore, we use the term “The Instant Locs Crochet Method” as a combination of the two. If you are unfamiliar with this method you’ll probably want to visit our course for this topic here – How to Crochet Dreadlocks Course.
With enough practice using this method it allows you to Attach Dread Extensions and Reattach Dreadlocks and create a perfectly seamless Dreadlock Attachment with any hair texture and to do it more securely than any other method (aside from using superglue, or something crazy like that..).
This Dreadlock & Extension Attachment method has been tested and perfected over many years on all hair textures including Afro Hair, Caucasian Hair, Hispanic Hair, Asian Hair, Middle Eastern Hair, and all mixtures and variations in between. We’ve also attached dreadlocks with synthetic extensions, virgin hair extensions, human hair extensions, temporary extensions, and permanent extensions. This course covers just about everything you need to know in order to put in dread extensions in any situation.
We’ve also used this method countless times to fix dreadlock attachment problems. We’ve worked with plenty of clients to resolve the problem of their dreadlock extensions slipping out because of subpar methods from other salons. Sometimes we just add a bit of extra hair to fully secure the dreadlock attachment point, and in other situations it’s best to completely remove the loc extension and start over. Ironically, as I’m writing this content, my team is right in front of me doing EXACTLY what I’m writing about with a client coming to us after dealing with reattachment problems from another salon.
What’s in our course on How to do Dreadlocks with Extensions:
This course teaches you how to add dread extensions and how to reattach locs to the scalp or to the end of existing dreadlocks. We offer the first section of each course as free content before committing to the entire course. One of those free videos is a free lesson on how to use temporary extensions, so feel free to take advantage of all of our free content before enrolling and purchasing this course.
We then start your hands on training by working with Afro Hair to make two loc extensions and then attaching those dreadlock extensions together. We use slightly different hair colors for this process, so that you can see the difference between the two dreadlocks, and also to help train you on a smooth color gradient for the attachment point.
Once you’re skilled and comfortable with attaching loc extensions with Afro Hair, we then move onto working with Straight Hair. You’ll want to be proficient with courses 3-5 for straight hair prep before learning how to put in dread extensions with Straight Hair. Once you’re proficient, we then start by making two new dreadlock extensions with straight hair by backcombing, palm rolling, and crocheting the hair to make the extension. Then we attach those two dreadlock extensions together just like the Afro Hair. The reason we start with Afro Hair then progress to Straight Hair is because Afro Hair is by far the easiest to work with, and Straight Hair is often more challenging.
Most of your practice and training will be done by attaching two dreadlocks together. However, the next section of the course will show you how to attach dreads to natural hair by practicing on a mannequin head. This will emulate what you will encounter with a real world situation with a client.
Following all of that training we have additional and miscellaneous lessons to finish up the course with any extra information that is important for you to know about attaching dreadlock extensions.
So if you feel like you’re ready to start training all you have to do is navigate to our curriculum and watch our free content. If you want to purchase the premium hands-on content you can click the “Enroll” button at the top of this page to fully enroll yourself in this course.
